President Obama today, 10/28/09, signed into law a controversial “hate crime law”.  Shortly after he hosted a White House reception for gay activists.  The bill which was pushed through Congress attached to an unrelated defense bill, did not make it on it’s own several months ago.  I am concerned that this bill was written strictly to protect gays from hate crimes.  It gives more protection to gays than to elderly, or children, or any others who are victims of a hate crime.  I am certainly not against protecting innocent people from hate crimes, but why single out a particular sector.  I wrote Congressman Kratovil when the original bill was proposed noting my objections to that bill.  It fell on deaf ears I am afraid.

I have nothing against gays.  The Bible teaches us to love the sinner and hate the sin.  Thank God, or we all would be lost for we have all sinned and fell short of God’s will.  The Bible is very specific about the sin of homosexually, as well as many other sins in this passage of scripture;  “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God?  Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves, nor the greedy nor drunkards, nor slanderers nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.”  I Corinthians 6:9-10 NIV

I pray that as God watches over us (including our leaders), He gives us wisdom and understanding of His Word and how it applies in our daily lives.
