Cowboy Boots

I recently bought a new pair of cowboy boots.  Actually....It's the first time I ever bought a pair of cowboy boots.  Not knowing for sure what they should feel like I wasn't sure if I had the right size or not.  The first couple of times I wore them, I felt sloppy and like my feet were slipping up and down inside the boot. (Because they were)  I thought everyone could surely tell that these boots just were not for me, and made me look awkward and uncoordinated.  Just the opposite happened.  People who noticed complimented me on the good looking boots, and how nice they looked.  I couldn't understand it.  How come people didn't now how terrible it seemed on the inside of those boots?  By chance, the next time I wore them, I chose a thicker pair of socks.  Boy, did that make a difference!  A great fit and most comfortable!  The boots still looked the same on the outside, but it was what was on the inside of the boot that made the difference.

Isn't that just like it is with us?  People see only what is on the outside.  They really don't know how we feel or what we think on the inside.  Only we know what is on the inside.  Oh yeah.  God knows too.  We should make every effort to be sure that what God sees on the inside remains good and pure.  It needs to be a good fit, just like my thicker pair of socks inside my boots.

Just like I did not know I needed a change of socks to make a great fit; we sometimes don't see that we need a "change of socks" inside to be acceptable in God's eyes.  But once we make the change, we realize how much satisfaction and comfort it brings to be "walking comfortably" with God.

I love wearing my boots now.  It's a great walk.      Get wisdom - Get understanding!        Dad
